This phase involves developing a clear understanding of the client's
existing processes, the business direction the company's senior management
has laid out and identifying the gaps that need to be covered to realize
the goals and objectives of the company. Part of this would have been
accomplished at the Proposal stage and a complete understanding would
be necessary prior to commencement of development. The exact data
elements involved in the various processes and the inter-relationship
amongst them would be clear by the end of this phase.
At the end of 'Discover' phase, the requirements of the organization
will have been completely frozen, the Technology Platforms will
have been agreed upon and the first level business process maps
will have been developed for the major processes.
